Distinctively
housed in a vivid blue, art deco building,
Fishlips tempts its diners with an an
equally striking and appealing menu. The
emphasis is on seafood, as you would expect
from the name - on sparklingly-fresh seafood
treated with the delicacy and imagination
for which chef, Ian Candy, is renowned.
Fishlips Bar & Grill is located on
Sheridan Street, Cairns in a classic art
deco building (circa 1923), transformed from
obscurity to its current eye-catching
splendour in a major refurbishment
undertaken in 1996.
Owned and operated by Ian Candy, Fishlips'
bright blue exterior is complemented by an
interior complete with porthole lights and a
deck overlooking the street.
This provides the perfect setting for Ian's
innovative approach to preparing many
well-known ingredients, from crocodile to
calamari, chargrilled chicken breast to
chilli mud-crab.
Signature dishes include wok-tossed
crocodile in a small crispy herb &
garlic tuille, with pumpkin seed salsa and
sweet potato mash, and local barramundi with
corncakes, buttered spinach, spiced
ratatouille & bell peppers. Most dishes
on the menu are available in either a small
or large serving to enable diners to select
several small dishes in place of a larger
main course.
Fishlips is able to provide a memorable culinary experience through the perfect combination of magnificent food, excellent service and a truly wonderful ambience.
